Big Mamma Brings Circolo Popolare to Madrid

Big Mamma, a restaurant group specializing in Italian cuisine, has launched Circolo Popolare in Madrid. This marks the concept’s third location, joining outposts in London and Paris.

Spanning two floors, the restaurant features handmade Murano glass lighting, vibrant colors, and small details that make patrons feel right at home.

A retro-futuristic journey on the ground floor, where a “Ciao” sign—preserved from a 1970s Procida theater—welcomes guests on the ground floor. Two communal tables (to seat up to 30 people) are installed alongside an open bar. The space is rounded out by Saarinen-inspired furniture, Olivetti artworks, and issues of Domus magazine from the ’50s adorning the walls.

On the second floor, more than 2,000 vintage bottles illuminate the walls, while an open kitchen brings guests closer to the action. Here, the floors, chairs, and benches are wrapped in a combined total of over 650 feet of leopard print fabric.

An outdoor, flower-filled terrace is set to open later this summer.
