RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif. – Diamond Mattress has earned GREENGUARD Gold certification for most of its product lineup, including private label mattress offerings designed in collaboration with its retail partners.

The certification is an additional step toward the family-owned and operated mattress maker’s clean manufacturing and sustainability initiatives. In late 2022, the company eliminated FR solutions containing fiberglass from its lineup. The prior year, Diamond unveiled its Ethos line of eco-friendly mattresses.

Products that carry the GREENGUARD Gold seal from UL Solutions undergo a series of testing to guarantee they meet stringent requirements for more than 300 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that contribute to indoor air pollution. Studies have linked breathing VOCs to health problems, including allergies, asthma and cardiovascular disease.

“When we talk about sleep wellness at Diamond, we feel better now knowing that we’re making mattresses that also contribute to a healthier home and sleep environment, resulting in cleaner air that can help reduce the adverse health effects of indoor air pollution,” said CEO Shaun Pennington.

Achieving the GREENGUARD certification is part of the company’s overarching initiative to become a more sustainable manufacturer. Currently, the company uses recycled fiber pads and steel, and recycles and upcycles its foam and fabric waste from the manufacturing process.
