Everyday low-price retailers add fireworks to July 4 plans

HIGH POINT — Even if they’re not positioning them as sales, some everyday low-price retailers are making sure they’ve got some fireworks for the July 4th holiday period.

Top 100 American Furniture Warehouse doesn’t have sales, but owner Jake Jabs said the Englewood, Colo.-based retailer will adorn its stores in red, white and blue banners and will have extended hours, going from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Jabs said while there won’t be specific sales, there will be an in-store special. “The only special buy that I’m making really isn’t just for the Fourth; we’re going run a Therapedic deluxe pillow top mattress in queen at $450 as a company promotion on a mattress,” he said.

Similarly, Top 100 retailer Bob’s Discount Furniture positions itself as an everyday low-price retailer, but it’s highlighting four sectionals, starting at $799, and calling it “Four for the Fourth.”

“We are spotlighting four jaw-dropping values in each category to make furniture shopping during the fourth even easier and more rewarding than ever,” said Stephen Nesle, Bob’s chief brand officer.

In California, Top 100 retailer Jerome’s, which also does business as an everyday low-price brand, has its Fourth of July event, called “Red White and Choose” in place. In it, consumers have the option of having sales tax covered or 60 months of no-interest financing on qualified purchases made in store between June 11 and July 15.

Jerome’s is highlighting deals including a free bench included with the Kelcey dining table and four chairs, and a free loveseat accompanying the Brooks reclining sofa, among other offers.
