Magnussen Home names industry veteran for senior sales post

HIGH POINT – Magnussen Home Furnishings has named industry veteran Michael Pitman as the company’s new senior vice president of sales. Pitman reports directly to company CEO Nathan Cressman and will work during a brief transition with Kay Canada, Magnussen’s long-time vice president of sales who is retiring.

“Michael is a great cultural fit. He has the seasoning and the maturity to run the business,” Cressman told Furniture Today. “He understands programs, stores and solutions for our partners to ultimately make their business thrive in a challenging environment. He understands how the business works and how the distribution model works.”

Pitman is a veteran of the furniture industry, most recently serving as vice president of sales at Nourison Home. Prior to that Pitman spent 15 years at Ashley Furniture Inds., most recently as the company’s senior vice president of sales.

In a career that dates to the early 1990s, Pitman has served a number of leading furniture companies, including sales leadership roles at Lexington and Schnadig and more recently as CEO of Durham Furniture.

In his new post Pitman will head Magnussen sales for the U.S. and Canada.

“I’m here to help the dealers grow their business,” Pitman said. “My goal is to help the dealers capture more consumers and do more business.”
