Method Co. Adds Mulherin’s Pizzeria in Philadelphia

Mulherin’s Pizzeria—a casual Italian restaurant from Method Co.—has opened its doors in the Midtown Village section of Philadelphia. The opening follows the success of its sister concept, Wm. Mulherin’s Sons, in the city’s Fishtown neighborhood.

The pizzeria is situated on the ground floor level of the Girard, a mixed-use building designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, which also includes extended-stay concept ROOST East Market, residential units, retail stores, and more.

With interiors and branding led by Method Studios (Method Co.’s in-house design firm) and longstanding collaborator Stokes Architecture + Design, the 2,600-square-foot space housing Mulherin’s Pizzeria highlights the heritage of Wm. Mulherin’s Sons with a crisp, restrained aesthetic.

A focal point open kitchen shows off the wood-fired pizza oven, while saddle leather banquettes, slatted oak benches, and mosaic tile flooring are layered with reclaimed maple wood floors, marble accents, and honed smoked soapstone tabletops.

The restaurant’s neutral-toned palette is punctuated by pops of color, including a sage green bar and wallpaper by visual artist Stacey Rozich adorned with whimsical whiskey-inspired characters and scenes inspired by William Mulherin’s legacy.
