Solid wood Amish furniture manufacturer acquired in Ohio, changes name

COSHOCTON, Ohio – Solid wood Amish furniture manufacturer VW Woodcraft has been acquired by husband-and-wife duo Norman and Mary Yoder, who will change the company name to Sunrise Wood.

VW Woodcraft was founded 32 years ago by Vernon Weaver, who has led the company ever since. It manufactures solid wood case goods, including benches, tables, dressers, chests and other custom items.

“We’re continuing with what they left off,” said Mary Yoder. “His (Weaver’s) children had no interest in it, so he advertised it. We decided we wanted to make it our home business, which is what we have been longing for.”

Yoder said the company will continue with VW’s current catalog and pricing until new catalogs get made. Product will remain the same, but some that aren’t selling as well may get discontinued.
