Standard International to Launch New Luxury Hotel Concept

The Manner, a new concept from Standard International, will open as a 97-key luxury hotel in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood this September.

The concept—the brainchild of Standard’s executive chairman Amar Lalvani—is design-led, discreet, and refined, a step up from the hotel company’s signature lifestyle properties. The name is derived from the particular manner of hospitality that feels more like staying at a friend’s house than at a hotel.

Designed by Milan-based architect Hannes Peer, in partnership with Standard International’s in-house design studio, the Manner boasts a layered design marked by an orchestration of materials, rich colors, and varied textures. Custom art and sculptural pieces will also be found throughout.

The rooms and suites are fashioned with warm color palettes, full-length mirrored walls, marble bathrooms, integrated audio systems, and chandeliers designed by Peer.

The Manner also houses three distinct dining options—the Otter, a seafood-driven restaurant; Sloane’s, a chic second-floor cocktail bar; and the Apartment, a guests-only lounge—developed with James Beard Award nominee Alex Stupak.
