Star Furniture adds designer’s eye to buying team

HOUSTON — Star Furniture, part of Top 100 Berkshire Hathaway’s furniture division, has added Anthony Stransky to the company as buyer of upholstery

In this new role, Stransky will oversee the buying of both stationary and motion upholstery, reporting directly to Vice President of Merchandising Alicia Macha.

“Anthony’s passion for design combined with his background in buying complements Star’s ‘Different by Design’ positioning in the marketplace and is an ideal addition to the merchandising team,” said Macha.

Prior to joining Star, Stransky ran his own interior design business, Anthony Charles Interiors, and served as a design consultant for Kohler. He also held buying roles at Charming Charlie and Victoria’s Secret, demonstrating a strong track record in retail merchandising.

“I am very excited to join the Star Furniture team. With more than 15 years of experience in retail merchandising, coupled with seven years of experience as an interior designer, I am looking forward to leveraging my ability to curate aspirational product assortments that will resonate with the consumer and drive growth for our organization,” Stransky said.

Stransky will attend the High Point Market in October, aiming to reinforce the strong partnerships with key vendors in Star’s portfolio, including Kincaid, Bernhardt, Vanguard, Century, Sherrill, Natuzzi and Simon Li, among others.
