Storis teams with Synchrony to integrate financing into new POS software

MT. ARLINGTON, N.J. — As a provider of retail software solutions for the furniture industry, Storis today partnered with Synchrony to launch its Storis Next Gen POS, which integrates financing options and enables store associates to better advise customers about their use based on individual needs.

In developing the payment system, Storis conducted first-party research in its retailers’ showrooms, which found that sales associates were instrumental in informing customers about their financing options. Accessing this information on mobile devices enables associates to advise about finance plans based on that customer’s specific product selections.

A new related feature is also on the way, the company says. Storis NextGen’s Signature Capture will allow customers to sign digital documents on mobile devices. After financing is approved, customers can sign the lender’s terms and conditions easily.

Synchrony’s 2023 Major Purchase Study shows that 55% of customers research financing through their retail sales associates. Storis partnered with Synchrony for this launch. Retailers using the Synchrony Home credit card program can now use these plans as payment in Storis NextGen. Additionally, Storis integrates Synchrony Home Network’s API web services across their ERP, APIs, and e-commerce platform.

“Customers have chosen whether to finance their purchase before, not during checkout, as credit determines the consumer’s total buying power. As such, this was integral to how we designed financing within our Storis NextGen Mobile Point of Sale/User Interface/User Experience workflow,” said Mark Braun, Storis NextGen product manager.

A recent PYMNTS report found that “58% of all consumers who bought durable goods within the past year used financing or leasing programs for at least one purchase, and that rising credit utilization was seen among millennials and Gen-Z shoppers.”
