Wayfair’s first-ever large format store has officially opened

WILMETTE, Ill. – Wayfair’s first ever large-format store has officially opened in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette. Spanning 150,000 square feet, Wayfair hails the two-story has being a one-stop shopping destination for all things home, including furniture, home decor, housewares, appliances and home improvement products, “for any style, space or budget.”

The store includes 19 different departments, free onsite design and home improvement services, one-to-two-day shipping on most larger items and a restaurant serving sandwiches and all-day brunch.

“We are committed to providing our customers with unparalleled shopping experiences, tailored to their preferences, whether they choose to shop online or in-store,” said Liza Lefkowski, vice president of merchandising and stores. “The opening of our Wilmette location marks an exciting chapter for Wayfair, reinforcing our position as the premier destination for home goods. Our store is thoughtfully designed to be both inspirational and practical, empowering shoppers to create spaces that are just right for them.”

A mural on the store’s exterior was designed by Chicago artist and mural-specialist Alyssa Low.

Wayfair commissioned artist Alyssa Low, Chicago resident and Long Grove, Ill. native, to create a custom mural weaving in references to both Chicago and Wilmette, displayed along the north exterior wall of the Wayfair store. Additionally, as part of Wayfair’s ongoing commitment to supporting housing and a sense of home for all, the company will make a $100,000 donation to local non-profit organization Connections for the Homeless.

The store is also offering grand opening bonuses:

  • The first 100 people/families in line every day through Memorial Day get a $50 gift card
  • Up to 70% off in-store on select products
  • Giveaways and raffles
  • Food and family fun

The store is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Sundays.
